In the far past I considered myself a near audiophile, however one’s hearing range gets lesser as one ages. Nonetheless I found this system to be amazing for it’s size and price and after a few months bought my son (who is a high tech video/audio freak) one as a gift. He loved it also. Of course it was free to him. The only issue for both of us was a bit of frustration in set up and adjustments since the manual really sucks. The remote is adequate but not real user friendly. Both of those drawbacks are far outweighed by the quality of the package and the price. I tend to researchthings a bit too much and could not find anything comparable until one went into separate speakers and receivers and then one would almost have to go to 1000 or more. I fully recommend this unit, however they have become very hard to find. I don’t know why Denon is apparently not producing enough of these since most places I tried were out of stock in early April when I bought my son’s unit. I had to drive rather far to get the last remaining unit at a Best Buy in Central Florida and all web retailers also seemed to be out of stock.

Great sound for the size of the speakers. he remote is kind of cheezy though.

sound is suburb, but to access all of the features you must set it up using the Audessey set up (automatic) which is a bit complex and I found to be time consuming.

  5. The system took some doing to get it set up correctly. once I got through the bottlenecks of hooking it up just right and audessey detecting all the speakers-that was a chore in itself; and getting just the right sound configuration I have the perfect system. I am extremely happy with it; but the instruction manual is mind boggling. All in all excellent system but would be nice if it could also be adjusted like the older home systems as well.
